Senate Democrats Aim to Finish Debate on the $1 Trillion, 2,700-Page Infrastructure Bill This Weekend

This week, Senators are debating the over 2,700-page, $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, with Democrats targeting this weekend to finalize the package. The Democrat leader said he is looking at holding a key vote to end the debate quickly, at which time the bill would need 60 votes to move forward. It will be up to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to make the final decision about when to cut off the amendment process, although Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned not to rush the consideration of amendments. The minority leader said in a statement that the senate must have, “a robust and bipartisan amendment process on legislation of this magnitude.
